I had this book sitting on my TBR for way too long, and now I’m kicking myself for not picking it up sooner! It was such an addictive read, filled with twists and turns that kept me guessing. I love when I can’t predict what’s going to happen next, and Corrupt nailed that feeling perfectly.

Rika’s character really stood out to me. Her journey from being unsure of herself to becoming a total badass was amazing to read. I absolutely loved Rika—her growth and strength throughout the book made me root for her so hard. The way her relationship with Michael evolved was intense and captivating. If you’re looking for a gripping, unpredictable ride, this book is a must-read. You won’t be able to put it down!

When you want to make an impression and you think you’ve gone far enough, go a little further. Always leave them wondering if you’re just a little bit crazy, and people will never fuck with you again.

I wasn't sure what to rate this book because bully romance isn't my favourite, and my feelings were so conflicted! On one page, I LOVED Michael, and then on the next, I HATED him. This rollercoaster of emotions continued throughout the entire book. I don't know what Penelope Douglas puts in her books, but holy shit, they are addictive and intriguing, and I am obsessed! I absolutely loved Rika and the boss ass bitch she became—her character development was phenomenal. The push and pull between her and Michael was intense, making their interactions electrifying. And don't even get me started on the sauna scene 🥵. Despite my mixed feelings about the genre, this book had me hooked and left me craving more. The intricate plot, combined with the deep emotional conflicts, made it a compelling read that I couldn't put down.

The closer you got to anything beautiful, the less beautiful it became. Allure was in the mystery, not the appearance.”

This book had me hooked from start to finish. I loved both the past and present timelines, and the storyline was so captivating. The dual timelines added depth and complexity to the plot, making it even more engaging. While I felt that Michael needed to grovel more, which was a bit of a letdown, the overall experience was fantastic. The characters were well-developed, and the emotional intensity kept me invested in their journey. The twists and turns throughout the story kept me on edge, eager to see how everything would unfold. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a compelling and multifaceted read. Despite my minor disappointment, I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to read more from this series.

The shy ones tend to be the baddest after all.
