Satans Affair By H.D Carlton

Satans Affair By H.D Carlton - Prequel of the Cat and Mouse Duet
Tropes: Dark Romance, Revenge, Serial Killer, Mental Health, Trauma, Horror Romance, Reverse Harem
Summary:
Every Halloween, the traveling haunted carnival Satan’s Affair rolls into town, luring in crowds with terrifying houses, thrilling rides, and sinful fun. But behind the smoke and mirrors lies something much darker. Sibby... a mysterious, unhinged woman cloaked in a mask, uses the chaos to cleanse the world of evil, one execution at a time. With her twisted henchmen at her side, screams become music and judgment is served with a knife.
A chilling, gore-filled prequel to H.D. Carlton’s viral Cat and Mouse Duet, Satan’s Affair introduces us to Sibby’s bloody world of justice, obsession, and chaos. Equal parts horror and dark romance, it’s a fast, addictive novella that sets the stage for one of the genre’s most unforgettable heroines.

I didn’t think I’d fall this hard for a novella, but Satan’s Affair completely consumed me. H.D. Carlton gives us an unfiltered look into Sibby’s world and wow, it’s brutal, chaotic, and impossible to put down. Sibby is unlike any FMC I’ve read before: psychotic, witty, oddly endearing, and terrifying all at once.
What I loved most was how we finally got to see her backstory and inner thoughts. Her trauma is woven in with her obsession for cleansing the world of evil, and while she’s completely unhinged, you can’t help but root for her. The henchmen were a standout too, each one twisted and loyal in their own way, adding depth and creepiness to the story.
This book is dark, bloody, and viciously fun but it also has the kind of chaotic humour and spice that makes H.D. Carlton’s books so addictive. A must-read if you’re diving into the Cat and Mouse universe.
“How can you tell me I’m not seeing what I’m seeing, just because you can’t see it, too? Why do the shortsighted people get to claim what is and isn’t sane?”

Reading Satan’s Affair after finishing the Cat and Mouse Duet was both a regret and a reward. A regret because I wish I had Sibby’s story first, and a reward because it answered every question I had about her past, her mask, and those infamous henchmen.
This novella is short but so sharp. It’s packed with horror, gore, spice, and Sibby’s delightfully psychotic voice. Her inner monologue alone made me laugh and shiver at the same time. The dollhouse of screams, the twisted morality, and the chaotic justice, it all hit perfectly.
And let’s be honest.. the Zade cameo was the cherry on top. It gave me chills in the best way and tied everything back into the Cat and Mouse world beautifully. Now, I’m counting the days until Sibby’s duet releases.
“You can’t hide from fate. That’s the funny thing about destiny, even if you try to escape it, it will always find you.”

This was such a fun, fast, and gloriously twisted read! Satan’s Affair is shorter than the Cat and Mouse Duet, but it’s jam-packed with action, gore, and answers about Sibby. I loved finally getting insight into her trauma and why she’s the way she is, it made her feel more layered and even more fascinating.
The spice was hot, the violence unapologetic, and the pacing perfect for a one-sitting binge. It’s a horror-infused carnival ride with knives, henchmen, and a heroine you won’t forget. Quick, wild, and addictive.
“I’m not crazy!” I screech. I take a deep, calming breath and arrange the smile back on my face. “I’m just passionate.”
