Satanic Shadows By Leigh Rivers - Book 1 in the Broken Realms Series
Tropes: Dark Fantasy Romance, Bully, Forced Proximity, Academia Setting, Enemies To Lovers, Magic
Summary:
Leigh Rivers delivers another mesmerising tale with Satanic Shadows, the first book in a thrilling new series. Seraphine Winters had an ordinary life—until she was kidnapped and taken to a mysterious island, home to Quarrierton Academy, a school unlike any other. Trapped in a castle filled with immortal beings, she quickly learns that her only escape is to pass every class. The problem? She’s the only human in a world where mortals are despised.
No one resents her presence more than Dane Dalton, the ruthless and powerful Shadow Prince. He loathes everything about her—yet their fates are tangled in secrets, lies, and a deadly curse that neither of them can escape. With time running out, Seraphine must navigate a world where danger lurks in every shadow, and love might just be her greatest downfall.

Another masterpiece from Leigh Rivers—she truly can do no wrong! From the very first page, I was completely hooked, trying to piece together what was happening, only to become utterly addicted as the story unfolded. The suspense, the intrigue, and the world-building kept me glued to the pages, and the slow unraveling of secrets made every chapter even more thrilling.
Seraphine was everything I love in a heroine—strong-willed, witty, and unwilling to back down even when the odds were against her. And Dane? The broody, arrogant Shadow Prince with a dangerous edge? Absolute perfection. Their banter was top-tier, filled with tension and sparks that had me grinning constantly. The side characters added so much depth to the story, making the world of Satanic Shadows even more immersive. If you love dark fantasy romance with high stakes, witty banter, and a slow-burn that keeps you on edge, this book is for you!
“Should we skip straight to our most awaited task? Should I fuck you into oblivion and keep you trapped there?”

Leigh Rivers has done it again! Satanic Shadows is a gripping fantasy romance that completely exceeded my expectations. The moment I started reading, I knew I was in for a wild ride. The beginning had me on edge, with Seraphine’s sudden kidnapping setting the tone for an intense, action-packed story. As she navigates the treacherous halls of Quarrierton Academy, I found myself feeling every bit of her frustration, determination, and resilience.
While fantasy romance isn’t my usual go-to genre, this book completely won me over. The dynamic between Seraphine and Dane was electric—their love-hate relationship had me giggling, swooning, and anxiously awaiting their next interaction. The slow-burn tension between them was so worth it, and the mystery surrounding the curse added an extra layer of excitement. This book had everything: humor, suspense, romance, and a world I never wanted to leave. I highly recommend it and absolutely cannot wait for book two!
"You'll never be free of me. That's a promise. After we're done with the academy, I will follow you to the ends of your world and make your meaningless life hell."

I went into Satanic Shadows not knowing what to expect, and I was blown away! This book was fast-paced, engaging, and full of moments that had me smiling from start to finish. The opening immediately throws you into the heart of the story, keeping you on edge as Seraphine is thrust into a world she doesn’t understand. The tension between her and Dane was everything—their banter had me laughing out loud, and the chemistry between them was undeniable.
What I loved most was how immersive the world felt. Leigh Rivers has a way of making you feel like you are Seraphine, trying to survive in a place where everyone wants her gone. Every twist and turn kept me guessing, and by the end, I was desperate for the next book. If you love enemies-to-lovers, dark academia vibes, and a touch of forbidden romance, you need to read this!
"You think I don't know you, little mortal? I'm fucking haunted by you."
