Devious Obsession By S.Massery

BOOK 2 IN THE HOCKEY GODS SERIES SERIES

Tropes: enemies to lovers, college romance, bully romance, stepbrother romance, dark romance, obsessive love, hockey romance, forced proximity, taboo romance, morally grey hero

Summary:

Devious Obsession by S. Massery is a dark, obsessive, stepbrother college romance that blurs the line between love and destruction. Aspen thought her one night stand with Steele O’Brien was over, until she finds out he’s not only her new stepbrother, but also a fellow student at Crown Point University. With a vicious streak and a thirst for control, Steele isn’t ready to let her walk away. What begins as hate soon spirals into something far more twisted. Passion. Possession. And a dangerous game neither of them is ready to stop playing.

This enemies-to-lovers, forbidden hockey romance is explosive, high-stakes, and filled with spice, emotional tension, and deliciously dark moments.

💚 LD -

Devious Obsession took me by surprise in all the best ways. From the moment Steele O’Brien realizes his one-night stand isn’t just a random girl—but the daughter of his father’s new fiancée—his entire mindset shifts. Aspen instantly becomes his target, and trust me when I say, Steele doesn’t go easy on her.

His obsession is intense, unsettling, and yet somehow addictive. Every interaction between them is laced with heat and venom, and you can’t look away. The way hatred slowly turns into a twisted kind of obsession is so well done. It’s messy, emotional, and completely enthralling.

I loved Aspen’s strength. She fights back, stands her ground, and refuses to be walked over—even when Steele tries to break her. The tension, the power plays, the constant battle for control—it made the story completely unputdownable.

This book is raw, spicy, and absolutely addictive. If you’re into dark, taboo college romances with a ruthless male lead and a fiery heroine, Devious Obsession is a must-read.

“You’re mine. Okay? Here, there, on fucking Mars. There’s nothing you can say or do that’s going to derail me from you.”

🤍 AD -

This book is dark, intense, and everything I wanted in a twisted college romance. S. Massery nailed the balance between hockey, obsession, and forbidden love.

I’m obsessed with Aspen. She doesn’t just roll over and take Steele’s games, she fights back hard. Her comebacks, her strength, her ability to hold her own against a character like Steele? Chef’s kiss. She's one of the boldest heroines I’ve read in a while.

And Steele? Oh, he’s insane in the most unhinged, terrifyingly hot way. I genuinely thought no one could top Greyson from Massery’s other books… but Steele said “watch this.” His obsession is dark, possessive, and wild. And the spice? Off the charts.

This book has all my favourite things: enemies-to-lovers, hockey, stepbrother taboo, and a storyline that keeps you guessing. Aspen puts up one hell of a fight, but Steele owns the game and her. Highly recommend if you love your romance dark and depraved.

“Property of Steele O’Brien.”

💙 AG -

I flew through this book because Devious Obsession is seriously addictive. Steele O’Brien is the kind of character who walks a razor-sharp line between toxic and irresistible, and I was hooked from the moment he appeared on the page.

The chemistry between Steele and Aspen is explosive right from the start. Their first encounter is filled with tension, and you know it's not the end of their story. But the real twist? Finding out they're about to become step-siblings.

The way Steele handles that news? Unhinged. He spirals, obsesses, controls and it’s absolutely fascinating to watch unfold. Aspen is strong-willed and bold, and I loved how she never gave in without a fight. Together, they’re fire and gasoline.

This book is not soft or easy, it’s dark, dangerous, and intense in all the best ways. If you’re into taboo dynamics and emotionally messy stories with steam and grit, this one is a must.

“Hate? Your body has already admitted to enjoying what I do to you, little viper. It’s just a matter of your mind following… and if that means breaking it, I’ll do that.”

If you're after a dark college romance where the enemies-to-lovers trope is taken to the extreme, Devious Obsessiondelivers. With brutal tension, forbidden chemistry, and a male lead who is just the right amount of psychotic, this book is not for the faint of heart—but it is for dark romance lovers who crave obsession, danger, and heat.
