Oh how I bloody loved this book! I didn’t know I had a weakness for Irish men until I met Declan. Let’s be real—he’s got that lethal charm, commanding presence, and an accent that makes everything sound hotter. But it wasn’t just Declan who made this book for me—Sloane completely stole the show.
She’s the definition of a badass FMC. Confident, sharp-witted, and hilarious, Sloane is everything I want in a heroine. I loved that she never backed down, even when she was literally kidnapped. Her sass, strength, and ability to throw a snarky one-liner in life-or-death situations had me fully invested.
The chemistry between Sloane and Declan? Absolutely off the charts. Their enemies-to-lovers dynamic sizzled with tension and was just the right mix of push and pull. And that twist at the end? I was not ready. It sealed the deal for me.
This book is addictive, steamy, and unexpectedly hilarious in all the best ways. Highly, highly recommend—especially if you love strong FMCs and morally grey Irish mafia men.
“Men say they love a strong woman, right up until they meet one.”

Words can’t explain how much I loved Sloane. Hands down, she’s one of my favorite female characters ever. She’s quick-thinking, sassy, emotionally resilient, and absolutely hilarious. I was laughing out loud through so many scenes—and not just a smirk, full-blown giggles. Her ability to charm (and frustrate) everyone around her, including her captor, made her such a fun character to read.
Sloane and Declan’s dynamic was chef’s kiss. The banter between them was next level, filled with tension, sarcasm, and slow-burning chemistry that built so naturally. Watching Declan—a man so used to control—slowly fall for her was everything.
And then that plot twist at the end? I did not see it coming, and it had me reeling in the best way. This story gave me romance, tension, action, and heart—all wrapped up in a dark mafia world. I couldn’t put it down.
“I pause, examining his expression. “Why are you so quiet?” “I don’t plan murder out loud.”

I picked up Carnal Urges while deep in a reading slump, and even then, it managed to grab my attention and keep me turning pages. That says a lot.
The standout for me was Sloane—she’s witty, bold, and so much fun to read. Her humor made even the darkest scenes feel electric. The dynamic between her and Declan was fire—constant verbal sparring, undeniable tension, and slowly building trust underneath all that chaos. Their chemistry practically leapt off the page.
I honestly think if I’d read this while not in a slump, I would’ve rated it even higher. But regardless, it was a solid read with amazing characters and a mafia romance that’s equal parts fun and intense.
“You own me, Sloane. Every corner of my worthless black soul. Every piece of my corrupt black heart. You own it all, and you always will. I’m your slave, not the other way around. Never forget it.”
