Brutal Vows By J.T Geissinger

BOOK 4 IN THE QUEENS AND MONSTERS SERIES

Tropes: Forced Proximity, Mafia Romance, Arranged Marriage, Touch Her & Die, Strong FMC, Enemies To Lovers

Summary:

Brutal Vows, the final book in the Queens & Monsters series by J.T. Geissinger, is a fiery, enemies-to-lovers mafia romance that brings the heat, heartbreak, and fierce banter. When Reyna is forced to step in and stop her niece from being sold off in an arranged marriage, she never expects to become entangled with Spider—a deadly Irish mobster with a sharp tongue and an even sharper jawline. What follows is a war of wills, where sparks fly, secrets unravel, and desire ignites in the most dangerous of ways.

While Brutal Vows wasn’t my personal favourite of the series, it still had plenty of moments worth mentioning. Reyna and Spider are both strong characters in their own right, she’s fiery and unapologetic, and he’s bold, possessive, and endlessly confident. But for me, the chemistry just didn’t quite click the way I’d hoped.

I think part of it may have come down to the reverse age gap trope, which isn’t usually my go-to. That said, I still appreciated Reyna’s strength and Spider’s persistence, and there’s no denying the banter was entertaining.

It wasn’t a total miss just not the standout of the Queens & Monsters series for me. But fans of slow burn and strong heroines might find it a hit.

“I’ll kill anyone who ever disrespects you. I’ll kill anyone who even looks at you the wrong way. If anyone so much as annoys you, I’ll put a bullet in his skull and throw his body into the Charles River. You never have to fight your own battles again, viper, understood? I’ll fucking destroy any dumb motherfucker who ever dares to even make you frown.”

🤍 AD -

Another masterpiece from J.T. Geissinger! I went into Brutal Vows already in love with Spider from the previous book, so my expectations were sky-high and they were totally met.

Spider deserved a woman who could match his intensity, and Reyna delivered that and more. She was sharp, no-nonsense, and had a powerful presence that leapt off the page. I loved her sass, her loyalty to her niece, and how fiercely she protected the people she loved.

The enemies-to-lovers tension was absolutely addictive, and the banter between Reyna and Spider was sizzling. Their chemistry built in such a natural, satisfying way, and when they finally gave in? Fireworks.

This was a bold, passionate finale to the series, and it gave me everything I was hoping for plus a few twists I didn’t see coming. A total win.

“I love you with every part of my dark heart and every piece of my wasted soul.”

💙 AG -

Brutal Vows had a slightly different tone than the rest of the Queens & Monsters series, which was both refreshing and a little unexpected. I enjoyed the storyline, especially the mafia politics and the forbidden dynamic between Reyna and Spider.

What stood out most was the strength of the characters. Reyna is such a standout heroine, mature, self-assured, and not afraid to challenge a man like Spider. Their relationship brought some great tension and fiery dialogue.

That said, I did wish for a bit more emotional depth toward the end. The buildup was solid, but I felt like we could’ve gotten more from the resolution. Still, it was a strong read and a unique addition to the series, even if it wasn’t my ultimate favourite.
