Thursday 1 October, and we took the whole cinema.
There is a particular kind of nervous excitement that comes with watching a book you love get adapted, and it is so much better in a room where every single person has read it. So for Verity, we booked out a private screening at Palace Cinemas Penny Lane and filled it with our readers.
An evening at Palace Cinemas Penny Lane
Doors from 6:15PM so everyone could collect their book and snacks, and the film at 6:30PM. Every ticket included entry, popcorn, a drink and an exclusive film tie-in edition of Verity to take home.
Watching Verity with people who have read Verity
If you know, you know. Verity is Colleen Hoover at her most unsettling, and a room of readers who have read the book and hearing everyone's opinions on the ending and debating which storyline they believe was the best part!
The reactions in the cinema were the best, from gasps, a giggle to jumping out of your seat even when you knew what was coming!
The tie-in editions
Every guest went home with the exclusive film tie-in edition, as well as a custom bookmark & a trilogy of romance voucher!
Why this matters
Events are one of our favourite things to run, because they bring the book community together.
What's next
We have a very full October. Book Bedazzling on the 2nd, Love Your Bookshop Day on the 10th, Paint Your Own Book Edges on the 17th, and our ACOTAR 6 midnight release party on the 26th. Keep an eye on our events page and follow @trilogyofromancebookcafe so you don't miss the next one.
Want to read Verity, or work your way through the rest of Colleen Hoover's backlist? Shop her books here or come and browse in person at 109 Maribyrnong Rd, Ascot Vale.
Thank you to everyone who came and spent a Thursday night at the movies with us.
