Book Review: God Of Malice By Rina Kent

God Of Malice By Rina Kent

God Of Malice by Rina Kent - Book 1 in the Legacy of Gods series.

Tropes: dark romance, morally grey hero, enemies to lovers, obsession, possessive love interest, psychological manipulation, forced proximity, elite/academy setting, twisted hero, cat and mouse dynamic, bully romance, new adult romance

Summary:

God of Malice is the explosive first book in Rina Kent’s Legacy of Gods series, a dark, elite romance that introduces readers to Killian Carson—a predator disguised as perfection. When Glyndon King's path crosses with his, she becomes the fixation of a monster in a suit, a man who manipulates as easily as he breathes.

Killian’s obsession is twisted, possessive, and all-consuming. And Glyndon? She's the girl who sees the darkness behind his mask—and still can’t escape. What begins as fascination quickly turns into a game of control and submission, secrets and sins. This isn't just a love story. It's a descent into chaos.

Rina Kent proves once again that no one does obsessive, morally grey men quite like she does.

💚 LD

I honestly wasn’t expecting to fall this hard for God of Malice, but the second I met Killian Carson, I knew I was done for. He’s not your typical book boyfriend, he’s dark, cruel, possessive… and totally unforgettable. Obsessed is truly an understatement.

At first, I wasn’t sure if Killian was going to be too psychotic for me, but that’s exactly what makes him stand out. His obsession with Glyndon is dangerous and controlling, but Rina Kent writes it in a way that’s impossible to look away from. The tension between them? Off the charts.

Glyndon herself was interesting. At times, I did find her insecurity frustrating—she constantly compared herself to her brothers and seemed unsure of her place in the world. But even with that, I respected her journey and how she slowly started pushing back against Killian. Their dynamic evolves in such a captivating way.

Also, if you’ve read Rina’s previous series (Royal Elite or Deception), you’ll love the cameos in this one. The group chats alone had me grinning like an idiot. It made me so glad I read her books in order.

God of Malice is twisted, messy, and exactly what I want in a dark romance. If you love morally grey men and brutal chemistry, this is 100% for you.

“I’ll be your villain, baby.”

🤍 AD -

I knew Rina Kent wrote dark books, but God of Malice pushed that to another level and I was so here for it. Killian Carson is terrifying, magnetic, and utterly addictive. The way he becomes obsessed with Glyndon is deeply unsettling, yet written in a way that makes it impossible not to keep turning the pages.

What I loved most is that Killian doesn’t pretend to be a hero. He’s a manipulator, a monster, and he owns it. Glyndon sees right through him, but that doesn’t mean she can escape. Their relationship walks a razor-sharp line between tension and destruction, and it had me questioning my own morals more than once.

This book doesn’t ease you in, it throws you headfirst into obsession, power games, and psychological warfare. I couldn’t put it down. Rina Kent is a master at making you fall for the characters you should probably run from.

Dark romance lovers, you’re going to devour this one.

“Not all girls like the hero. I was fated to fall in love with the villain. Because I know, I just know that he’ll put me ahead of everyone. Himself included.”

This book took me by complete surprise in the best way. From the very first chapter, I could tell God of Malice wasn’t going to be a typical dark romance. It opens with an eerie, almost haunting vibe that instantly hooked me. Killian Carson? Unhinged. Unapologetically so. And I loved every minute of it.

As someone who read the Deception Trilogy first, I knew Rina Kent didn’t hold back. But this story still managed to feel darker, more dangerous, and even more addictive. I will say some of the family scenes and group chats were confusing at first, especially if you haven’t read her earlier books like Royal Elite. But once I got into the rhythm, I couldn’t stop reading.

Glyndon’s voice was strong, even in her moments of doubt. I liked seeing her struggle with her own fears and the weight of living in her family’s shadow. Her relationship with Killian is far from healthy, but it’s magnetic, and I was rooting for her to survive him or at least match his energy.

Another dark, unforgettable romance from Rina Kent. If you love her work, this one’s a must.

“You always wanted the nice guy; too bad you got the fucking villain.”

If you love your dark romance completely unhinged, God of Malice delivers on every level. It’s haunting, intense, and deeply addicting. Killian Carson doesn’t fall in love—he hunts it down and claims it. This story is packed with obsession, psychological power plays, and a heroine who's determined not to break. Welcome to the world of Legacy of Gods—you won't come out the same.
