Dark Notes was my introduction to the teacher-student romance genre, and let me tell you—it set the bar sky-high. From the very first page, I was completely immersed in the intense world that Pam Godwin created. Emeric, the male lead, is an unforgettable character: he’s intense, fiercely protective, and has that brooding, dark allure that makes him impossible to resist. The chemistry between him and Ivory is absolutely electric; their dynamic is so raw and real that it pulls you in and keeps you hooked until the very end.
“This brutal man is my home. His hell is my heaven. I'm his Ivory, and he's my darkest note.”

Pam Godwin, you absolute queen! This book had me hooked from start to finish. It was my first teacher-student romance, and let me tell you, it definitely won’t be my last. The forbidden aspect of the story had my heart racing, making the entire experience even more intense. Godwin’s writing is beautiful and really pulls you in. Every moment was so well-written, and I couldn't get enough of it. Just a heads-up, there are some dark themes, so make sure to check the content warnings. But if you’re into forbidden love stories with all the feels, this one’s a must-read!
“We need each other, not because our bodies fit so well together. But because our hearts beat the same tune, for the same reason.”

What really sets Dark Notes apart is its emotional depth. This isn’t just a forbidden romance—it’s a journey through pain, healing, and the kind of love that can change lives. Godwin doesn’t shy away from exploring the darker sides of relationships, and she does it with a skill that makes the story both compelling and believable. The character development is spot on, especially Ivory’s growth as she navigates her tumultuous life and the complex feelings she has for Emeric.
I can confidently say that Dark Notes has earned a permanent spot on my list of all-time favorite books. If you're a fan of dark, emotionally charged romance that challenges the boundaries of love and desire, this book is an absolute must-read. Prepare yourself for a rollercoaster of emotions—this one will stay with you long after you’ve turned the last page.
“It’s universally known that the more forbidden something is, the more desirable it becomes.”
